We are seeking a full-time literacy expert for an educational sales position covering counties in central NC / Triangle area. You will work out of your home, but daily travel and meeting with educators is expected. It is important that you consider yourself to be an expert in literacy and curriculum. It is our job to understand the issues and needs of educators, to understand the resources we have that can help, and to suggest resources and ways to help solve their problems. Training will be provided for the sales aspect of this job.
Here are some characteristics that we are looking for in a literacy expert:
Knowledgeable about Common Core Standards and NC Standards for ELA, Science, SS and ESL. Early literacy (0-5) experience is a plus.
Understanding of leveling systems, such as Reading Recovery, F&P Levels and Lexile
Have taught using a Balanced Literacy and/or “Reader’s and Writer’s” workshop model in your classroom
Well-read about researchers in the field of education and current trends.
Experience in a leadership role within education is required. Some of these roles may include: Curriculum Leader, Literacy Coach, Reading Recovery Teacher, District-Level Trainer, and Interventionist.
Knowledgeable about Spanish Literacy and English Language Learners
Understands the importance of actively engaging families in learning
Job Description and Essential Duties and Responsibilities: As a sales consultant your primary role will be growing sales in your territory using a consultative sales model.
This is a full-time position where you work out of your home, but are daily reaching out to, calling, and meeting with educators according to their schedules, which can often be afterschool, before school and on their timeframe. Core duties and responsibilities include the following but are not limited to:
Meeting or exceeding a territory sales goal
Working with existing customers and building new customer relationships
Identifying new sales opportunities in target accounts
Collaborating with sales team and sales manager
Creating and executing various marketing and selling campaigns
Maintaining and managing a sales pipeline report
Building strong relationships with customers and the publishers we represent in order to quickly and effectively serve the needs of everyone
Providing quality customer service
Attend and support state conferences, trainings, and annual sales meetings (held out of state and over multiple days.)
Bachelor’s degree in Education, English or related subject
Organized and detail-oriented
Strong Word, Excel, Powerpoint skills
Knowledgeable and have used Google Docs
Excellent verbal, written and telephone communication skills
Professional orientation and demeanor (able to handle and respond to external requests in a timely and courteous manner)
Ability to work calmly under pressure with flexibility (can work long hours)
Good time management
